What we will do before any student is in the room, and where that stands right now.
Where we are today
30aKidz is pre-launch. No course has met yet. The screening and safety practices below are the standard we are putting in place before the first course meets, not a description of something already running. We would rather tell you exactly where we are than imply more.
Instructor screening
Every instructor and any adult working with students will be screened before they teach. We will enroll as a qualified entity in VECHS, the Volunteer and Employee Criminal History System that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement runs under the National Child Protection Act and Fla. Stat. 943.0542, and every one of those adults will be screened through it. VECHS returns a fingerprint-based Level 2 check: state criminal history from FDLE and national criminal history from the FBI. Fingerprints are the point. A name-based check can be defeated by a name change or an alias, and a fingerprint cannot. As a service provider we are not required to screen at this level. We are going to do it anyway, because it is the standard Florida sets for people it puts in positions of trust with children.
Small groups
Courses are small by design. A small group is not only better teaching, it means an instructor knows every student in the room by name and notices when something is off.
Drop-off and pickup
Courses are drop-off. We will collect an emergency contact for every enrolled student, and we will tell you the venue, the room, and the pickup routine in your enrollment confirmation before the first session.
Photos
We do not publish a student's photo without a parent's permission.
